  1. Your presentation proposal is due on or before March 9, 2008 and should be sent to the attention of Susan Burgess.
  2. Presentation proposal should be in MS Word format and include the following:
    • Speaker Name, company, title, preferred mailing address, telephone number, fax number, and email address
    • Level of expertise
    • Presentation title
    • Track session for which you feel your presentation is best suited

If you are planning to discuss a specific tool or product as a portion of your solution, please not that clearly in your overview (if a commercial product, please include the name of the vendor). If a portion of your time will be used for a class exercise, please also note that along with the estimated time for the exercise as a part of the outline.

Abstract Requirement:
Once the presentation proposal has been elected an abstract will be requested. The abstract is a summary of the material you will cover in the presentation and should be submitted in MS Word format and between 50 to 85 words in length. The fixed number of words is necessary due to the allotted space available to promote each conference on the web site, conference CD, Conference-At-A-Glance program guide, and other conference marketing materials. Your abstract should give the reader an idea of what is in your presentation to allow them to determine which presentations would best benefit their needs and interests at the conference.

Your abstract should be sent to the attention of Susan Burgess.

Finished Presentations:
These should be sent to the attention of Susan Burgess. The conference program committee reserves the right to replace speakers who fail to submit their presentations in a timely manner or in accordance with the specifications detailed below. Speakers who are replaced will not be eligible for the complementary conference registration. No changes or additional materials will be accepted after the deadline.
  1. Softcopy (electronic) Color version of the presentation as it will be given in PowerPoint 2000. This version will be included in the CD provided to attendees of the conference. Color presentations guidelines are as follows:
    1. Presentations should be in high contrast (dark on light or light on dark). Presentations without high contrast can be difficult to read in a room with adequate lighting for attendees to take notes. For example, black background slides will be easier to read with white or bright yellow text than with red or blue.
    2. Presentations with lots of small text on a single slide will be difficult to read. If a lot of text is required, break it up into multiple slides and increase the font size. Font sizes 18 and smaller should be avoided.
    3. If it is absolutely essential to add a slide to the presentation after the handouts have been completed, provide a copy to Susan Burgess immediately. Susan Burgess will forward all change requests to the QAI Program Conference Committee for consideration. Upon acceptance by the Committee, we will advise the speaker. Material will not be accepted for reproduction and distribution after August 20, 2008.
  2. Softcopy (electronic) Pure Black and White version of the presentation as it will be given in PowerPoint 2000. This version will be used to produce the handouts provided to attendees of each session. Late submission of black and white presentations will create problems in the organization and reproduction of materials for the attendees cannot be guaranteed.
    1. All backgrounds should be white and all text should be black as any other combination does not reproduce well.
    2. Background figures, icons, and patterns should be removed if they make reading the overlying text difficult. (Presenters are urged to print out suspect slides in pure black and white to determine if there will be a problem.)
    3. Slides will be printed in the handouts two (2) per page and back to back, with the exception of the title slide which will be a full page.
    4. An electronic copy of any additional materials to be distributed during the session. These will either be attached to the presentation or held for the speaker based on the instructions received. Material will not be accepted for reproduction and distribution after August 20, 2008.
  3. It is the responsibility of the Presenter to ensure that they have obtained the necessary permissions to reproduce or use any copyrighted material.
